Yesterday, Thursday, was my last day of classes as an undergraduate. This semester I’m graduating and then next year I’m taking on Honours. For the past week I have been feeling very strong, galvanized, but were it not for my understanding of impermanence, I surely would be feeling down.
Acknowledging something is at an end tends [...]

On procrastination
Posted in Fun or Humour, Self-Improvement, tagged Humour on May 27, 2008 | 1 Comment »
For me, there are two fundamental characteristics of procrastination.
1. You know you’re procrastinating, yet you don’t stop doing it. You might feel slightly helpless, you might feel totally helpless. But you do anything other than your work. In fact, I’m procrastinating by typing this post. I should be writing up a paper. Yet I continue.
2. [...]
Why Gundam is better than Star Wars

Speaking of science fiction from my last post…
Admittedly, Transformers will always be my favourite sci-fi franchise. But to me, the Gundam series is better than the Star Wars franchise simply for its much closer proximity to Earth. I never understood where humans came from in Star Wars; and frankly I found most ideas in Star [...]
The Future

It is good to be alive in such an exciting era of the world – the modern age really has begun to set in, and there has never been a better time to gain knowledge and insight. But at the same time, I wonder if everyone realizes just how dangerous the future can be. Now [...]
The relevance of men in Buddhism

Since last post I essentially vindicated all Buddhist women from critics who could condemn Buddhism as inherently sexist towards females, I will also play fair on part of my own gender and highlight why Buddhist men must understand their calling is of the highest priority – and privilege.
It’s not that relevant, but today I finished [...]
The relevance of women in Buddhism

I hope this will not be an overly controversial post for you, dear readers, to digest. You are free to contradict me, I only ask for the initial goodwill that leads to genuine dialogue and debate.
I think there are too many women (and men) both within and without the Buddhist movement who criticize the tradition [...]
Why I love Egypt

I have the prospect of traveling to Egypt with my family sometime during my semester’s break from university studies. This idea alone, I must admit, gives me a harder stiffy than taking refuge itself, which I feel slightly guilty for. However, I do not believe I would be the man I am today without the [...]
Crazy wisdom

People aren’t random enough. They should say more funny things and do more funny stuff. A few nights ago my housemate said to me, ‘I want to go out’ so I said, ‘let’s go clubbing downtown this Friday.’ And then he shook his head and said, ‘I want to do something wild; something stupid. I [...]
Buddhism as a religion of ‘true power’

To most people, a powerful leader who guides and teaches with a benevolent hand is much more deserving of reverence than a tyrant who oppresses with an iron fist. I believe Buddhism is a spirituality/religion that puts one in a position of great power. This power, understood in the context of Buddhism, empowers one with [...]
The Seriousness of the Crisis

Months ago the so-called ‘Saffron Revolution’ brought renewed attention to the brutality and injustice of the Burmese military junta.
However, the cyclone disaster of recent days is no less urgent proof that the Burmese government MUST be defeated and brought to justice. Whether you play a small or large part in the current humanitarian effort in [...]
