Someone roared at me. I have no idea what being roared at means, but a quick look seems to reveal that I’m obligated to give three tips for writing. Well, here’s a shot:
1. Blog for yourself, not others. There have been four to five day blocks where I have not updated my blog because of lack of relevant subjects to blog about. I’m under no obligation to write, neither is any other blogger. So blog to please yourself, otherwise your blog ceases to be a hobby. Why then blog at all (unless you’re some sort of activist for a cause)?
2. Enjoy your subject matter. I don’t blog about cars because they bore me to death.
3. At the same time aware of your blog’s subject matter. If I wanted to stroke my ego to orgasm (which is impossible because there’s no ego anyway! BAHAHAHA hahaa ha… eeerr) I would’ve started a blog about relations between men and women, or a blog about politics, or a controversial blog with a racist/ethnocentric premise. These blogs get the most hits and are the most popular because of their utilization of what most people know about or are interested in. Even if you are surrounded by philosophers, historians and chaplains, there’s really only a small amount of people overall who are really actively interested in these things. Don’t be fooled. The smaller the audience, chances are the fewer hits you’ll get. I don’t expect anyone to be interested in my blog because 90% of people either don’t give a damn, or they actually do give a damn but never had the time/money/courage/motivation/whatever other excuse they have to get off their arses and start thinking like the Divine intended us to – like philosophers (philosophers of religion if you ask me!). Know your blog’s subject matter and you know what kind of crowd you’ll attract.
And here’s five blogs I recommend:
Gregor’s blog: Gregor has a unique perspective of many aspects of Buddhism. I tend to have a very clear cut position on certain aspects of Buddhist doctrine, so in many ways reading his blog is more of an intellectual journey than reading mine.
Mark’s blog: A very insightful and spiritual website. I wouldn’t be surprised if you know about it.
New site of Earth Tree Green Woman: It’s now on a WordPress site and a new look. Take a look.
Universe in a Single Atom: I admit I’ve only been there once, but from the few posts I read, it’s definitely worth it.
Meditation Photography: I’d be surprised if you don’t know about this. A feast for the eyes.
All five blogs are spiritually-centered, hence are recommended by me.
Three more to come – give me time.

Raymond,
These are great tips! Write what you are passionate about, write what you love and know and write because you are moved to write.
Thanks for the link, I am honored.
Hello Raymond! Glad to hear from you. I am happily surprised to see a link to my site here. Thank you! That’s so sweet. Its a nice post too. I’m taking siesta from writing at the moment, but I’ll be back in a bit.
Big hugs!!
Thank you both for your fantastic blogs. An online presence is something to be proud of. Go forth and triumph!
