My new favourite song

Taiwan pop star Jay Chou has released his latest EP, Golden Armour (黄金甲), with the theme song for the new movie Curse of the Golden Flower, starring Asian megastars Chow Yun-Fat, Gong Li, and Jay Chou himself (…). Golden Armour is not a long song – it’s only 3:34 – but I personally think it’s one of the best explosive songs Jay Chou has sung in recent times – easily my personal favourite. Its melody and beat are in the Chinese style with an errie Chinese flute and chant filling the beginning and interlude, but the addition of electric guitar and block rockin’ drums during the main body of the song is insanely adrenaline-inducing. The climax of the song seamlessly blends flute and rock instruments together, and Jay’s voice remains as impressive as ever. 4.7/5!!
