For a short while I was a “greenie” – I was really worried about global warming, and I believed it was the greatest threat to human survival.
In many ways I still am that “greenie” to this day. I’m not as hung up on the environment anymore (for better or for worse). I do my best to recycle and use as little waste as possible, although I rarely visit the Greenpeace website now. I still believe global warming is the greatest threat to humanity apart from nuclear weapons but for some reason or another I haven’t felt the same sense of “Oh, shit!” as I did a couple of years ago. Perhaps I’m just jaded, what with being bombarded by so many reports of global warming and the damage it is causing and will cause. Not that I deny it, since I’m not an environment expert, but it’s just not my area of special interest anymore.

I’m in the same situation – it used to freak me right out. I think now people believe that there is so much momentum behind global warming that there is almost nothing the human race can do to stop it. We are already seeing record breaking droughts, cyclones, fires, floods etc.
So if we can’t stop it, what good is worrying going to do? This is in part what I believe, however I also think people should at the very least be aware of global warming, and trying to figure out how we are going to live with it. We now have stacks of documented evidence that shows that it is happening (whether man-made or not), so it would be stupid at this point to deny it.
I agree with Jordon, unless the whole world decides to close down their powerplants and go to work on foot, there isnt much we can really do besides maybe find a way to convert greenhouse gases to something else at greater speed we make it….
so in other words we needta hurry up in making biodomes on mars so we can ditch this planet asap~
I don’t think we should fuck up other planets without fixing ours first. ;-) Either that or our descendants could try and evolve living under water.
your a hoe, u greenie.
the world needs less of you sick freaks greenies.
you guys really annoy me in the city, wif ur leaflets… u say u want to save the environment, and yet u still destory trees for ur stupid retarded leaflets.

Global warming eh? well in our household all our lights are energy efficient bulbs, our taps and showerheads are the water saving kind that just dribble on you and we don’t ever use the fans. As for transport? we only have one car, and we barely ever leave the house so that leaves it redundant. so you may conclude with the assumption that im a greenie. however let me justify myself… the lights in the house are energy efficient bulbs, not to save energy..they are there because i prefer a white light to an incandescant bulb. water saving shower heads? well they too are only there because dad is stingy with money. same applies with the non-use of the fans. and the car? well only my parents can drive and they are usually never around. not to mention there is nowhere to go up here so its no big loss if we can’t get out much.
so…i am, indeed not a greenie. the only ‘green’ part of me is my desire to one day own a lexus gs450h hybrid sedan. why? well the lower fuel consumption is just a bonus. for me its the sheer power and performance that a hybrid drive train delivers. BUT it does come at a cost. at close to $130,000 its not exactly cheap. and neither were those energy efficient lightbulbs.
honestly, i believe the majority of people are aware of global warming and the devastating effects that it can cause. however the current ‘green’ alternatives out there today are only fractions of what needs to be done in order to combat global warming. and these alternatives are not that easily attainable either. most green alternatives are A LOT more expensive than normal alternatives, and therefore most people, with the minimum wages and salaries they are on, do not find it justifiable to purchase such things, especially with todays high inflation rates and interest rates.
but i have to agree global warming is major problem plaguing mankind. and i guess even though im not entirely a greenie, i have done my part in trying to reduce the greenhouse effect, which leads to global warming…
meh.. anyway enough with my nonsense..
btw jordan, u need to update your blog..
